Inspection Summary
What's great
This machine currently has 2,300 hours of operation on one light rail tunnel project. All of the applicable Performance Improvement Programs (PIP) have been installed by a local Liebherr dealer
The automatic fire suppression system is installed internally to protect the system from damage by debris and rock
In addition to the up/down and in/out boom motions demonstrated in the video, the tunnel boom also has radial motion capabilities designed to reach the arched area of a tunnel
All operator meters and displays in good working order, including rear view camera
Hydraulics are in above average condition, no unusual sounds heard during operation
Easy engine start up, smooth idle; no blow by seen at operating temps
Smooth and quiet rotation of swing table in both directions
Good function of bear and boom, full 360 orbit and tunneling rotation
Good undercarriage appearance, no panel damage or wetness observed
What needs work
The inspection reports a surge/rubbing noise heard during forward and reverse travel - this comment refers to the Liebherr travel alarm, installed on all underground equipment
Some rust and wear seen on upper edge and upper surface of the blade
Top left corner of the counterweight is dented
Some surface rust and scrapes on body panels and boom, rust pre-cancer seen behind the blade
