Are Used Log Trailers Worth It? What to Check Before Buying?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been thinking about picking up a used log trailer to save some cash, but I’m wondering if it’s actually worth the risk. Have any of you had good (or bad) experiences buying used? What are the key things you always check before pulling the trigger? I’d love to hear what’s made or broken the deal for you. Any advice would be appreciated before I commit to anything!

Solid question, Carlo! Used log trailers can definitely be a good deal if you know what to look for, I always check the frame for hidden cracks, inspect the suspension and brakes, and make sure there’s no excessive rust in critical spots. Anyone here have tips on evaluating air lines or signs of past overloading?

Good call bringing this up about used log trailers can save you a chunk of change, but only if they’re in solid shape. I always check for uneven wear on the tires (could mean axle issues), and definitely test those air lines for leaks or dry rot. Past overloading can be a hidden killer, so watch for frame stress or sketchy weld repairs.
