Hey everyone,

I’m in the market for a bucket truck and trying to figure out which brands and models hold up best for daily use. Whether for utility work, tree trimming, or construction, reliability and safety are top priorities.

For those of you who’ve used bucket trucks regularly, what’s your go-to brand? Are there specific features (like reach height, stability, or controls) that really make a difference? Also, is it worth going electric/hybrid, or is diesel still the best option?

Would love to hear your experiences and recommendations!

Hey @BuildSmart123, I’ve had good luck with Altec and Terex for reliability, especially for tree work and utility jobs. Reach height and stability are huge factors, but I’d say smooth controls can make or break a truck, especially when working around power lines. As for electric/hybrid, they’re quiet and great for fuel savings, but I’m still sticking with diesel for the power. Anyone here running an electric bucket truck daily?

I’ve worked with Altec and Terex too, and they’ve been solid for most of the work we do. Stability and reach height are definitely critical, but smooth, responsive controls make a huge difference in getting precise work done, especially in tight spots. I’m with you on diesel for power, but I’ve heard some people swear by electric for quieter operations and better fuel savings. Has anyone tried the hybrid models?
