Hey everyone, what’s your go-to grease for skid steer and loader pins? I used to just grab whatever was around, but I’ve noticed that certain greases don’t hold up well under heavy use. Lately, I’ve been using Lucas X-TRA Heavy Duty and Mobil Centaur Moly 2, and they seem to stick better and last longer.

Anyone have a favorite that’s worked well for extreme pressure and frequent use? Also, how often are you greasing—every day, or just when things start squeaking? Looking forward to hearing what works best for you!

I’d say you’re on the right track with Lucas and Mobil Centaur Moly 2, both are solid choices! I’ve also had good luck with Schaeffer 238, especially in high-pressure applications. I try to grease daily, but if it’s a light-use day, I might stretch it to every other day. Nothing worse than dry pins, though once you hear that squeak, you’re already too late! What kind of conditions are you running in—mud, dust, or mostly clean work sites?

Definitely agree! Once you hear the squeak, the damage is already starting! I’ve had good results with Schaeffer 238 too, especially in muddy conditions. Daily greasing is the way to go if you want those pins to last.

Sounds like you all have solid picks! I’ve been running Lucas X-TRA Heavy Duty too, and it holds up well under pressure. Schaeffer 238 keeps popping up, might have to give that a shot. I try to grease daily, but let’s be honest, sometimes life (or a long shift) gets in the way. Ever had a day where you swore you just greased everything, but somehow the pins are still screaming at you by noon?

Lucas X-TRA and Schaeffer 238 are solid picks! Daily greasing is key, but somehow, those pins always want more. What’s your toughest work condition with mud, dust, or heavy loads?

Appreciate all the grease recs, Schaeffer 238 is one I’ve been meaning to try. We’re usually dealing with a mix of mud and heavy loads, so daily greasing is a must. Anyone using auto greasers or sticking strictly to manual?
