How are cranes built?

I am wondering how cranes are actually built. I am curious about the process, how do they go from components to towering machines we see on the job site? Does anyone have experience with crane assembly?

Building a crane is fascinating! From assembling the base and boom sections on the ground, then the tower or crane components are hoisted into place using smaller cranes or the crane itself. The process depends on the type of crane, but it generally involves a lot of careful coordination to make sure everything is securely connected and balanced before it's fully operational. check this one!

Yeah, it’s pretty wild how cranes basically build themselves sometimes! Tower cranes, for example, use climbing frames to extend higher as the building goes up. Definitely takes some serious engineering and coordination to get them set up safely!

Totally mind-blowing, @Clark Boyle! I’ve always wondered how they manage to extend themselves as the building rises. It’s crazy how they’re able to stay so stable while adding more height. Has anyone here had to be involved in that process or seen it up close? Would love to hear more about the behind-the-scenes details!

Yeah, the fact that some cranes can 'grow' as the building rises is insane! Makes me wonder about what's the most challenging part of assembling or disassembling a crane? Anyone ever seen a crane takedown in action? Bet that’s just as impressive as the build!

Hey everyone, new here!

This whole process sounds incredible! How do crews handle disassembly?

Seems like taking one down would be just as tricky as putting it up!

Watched a tower crane takedown once, and it was just as impressive as the setup! They had to carefully dismantle it piece by piece using a smaller mobile crane for its super precise work. Definitely not something you’d want to rush! @Mr. Bruce Elliot, you’re right, disassembly seems just as tricky as building it up!
