Trailer Brand Quality - Which Ones Are Worth It?

Hey everyone!

I’m in need of a new equipment trailer to haul some of my ranch equipment around. It’ll be about a 30-minute trip each way, and I plan to use it with a 1-ton truck. I’ve been looking at gooseneck trailers with a deckover for better material hauling. Locally, I see a lot of Lamar, Big Tex, and Load Trail. Anyone have any experiences with these or other brands? I want something solid that’ll last without needing constant repairs. I’ve had some issues with powder coating peeling on a previous trailer and want to avoid that.

I’ve run a Load Trail for a few years now, and it’s held up well, no major issues aside from routine maintenance. Powder coating does seem to wear off quicker than I’d like, but I think that happens with most trailers after enough use.

Lamar is another solid choice. Their build quality is great, and I’ve heard good things about their powder coat holding up better than some others.

@heavydutyAlex, are you planning to haul just ranch equipment, or will you be moving other heavy loads too? That might help narrow down the best option!

Hey everyone! I’ve seen a lot of guys swear by Lamar for durability, but Load Trail seems to be pretty solid too if you keep up with maintenance. Powder coating wear is almost inevitable, but some brands definitely hold up better than others. @heavydutyAlex, are you leaning toward a specific weight capacity or just looking for something that’ll handle whatever you throw at it?

Hey @heavydutyAlex, sounds like you need something tough and reliable! I’ve had good experiences with Big Tex, solid frames and they hold up well over time. Load Trail is also a solid choice, but I’ve heard mixed reviews about their wiring and powder coat holding up long-term.

I’ve heard good things about Lamar for durability, and Big Tex seems to have a strong reputation too. Powder coating wear is pretty common across most brands, but some definitely hold up better than others. Are you looking for any specific features, like ramps or extra tie-down points?

Good insights here! I’ve seen Lamar trailers hold up really well, especially with their powder coat compared to some others. Big Tex is solid too, but I’ve heard mixed things about their wiring. @heavydutyAlex, are you planning on getting any upgrades like extra tie-downs or hydraulic ramps?

Lots of solid trailer brands mentioned here! I’ve seen Lamar trailers hold up well over time, but I agree that powder coating wear is almost unavoidable. If you’re hauling heavy ranch equipment, have you considered any custom add-ons like a winch or upgraded axles? Could make life easier in the long run!
