What are some common issues with compactors, and how can they be fixed?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been experiencing some issues with my compactor lately and could use some help troubleshooting. What are some of the most common problems you’ve encountered with compactors, like poor compaction or unusual vibrations, and how have you fixed them? Any tips or solutions would be much appreciated!

Hey Paul, poor compaction usually comes down to low engine power or worn-out vibratory components, I’d start by checking the exciter oil and drum isolators. Also, weird vibrations can sometimes be from loose bolts or uneven drum wear. Had that issue once and a quick inspection saved me a lot of downtime. Have you noticed if the issues get worse under heavier loads or certain surfaces?
