Hey everyone,

Forklifts are essential for material handling, but they also come with serious safety risks. I’m curious about what are the four main causes of injuries when using forklifts? Are there common mistakes operators make that lead to accidents?

Also, what are the best safety measures to prevent these incidents? Would love to hear insights from experienced forklift operators or safety professionals!

Let’s discuss how to keep forklift operations safe and accident-free.

Hey @Modernbucket,
Great question! From what I’ve seen, tip-overs, collisions, improper loads, and pedestrian accidents are the big four. Operator training and awareness go a long way in preventing them! What’s the most common issue you’ve noticed in the workplace?

Good points, @LoggerMike! In my experience, improper load handling is a huge cause of accidents—if the load isn’t balanced properly, it can lead to tip-overs pretty easily. Regular inspections and making sure operators are trained on load safety really helps reduce that risk.

Totally agree with you all that tip-overs and bad load handling seem to be the biggest ones where I work. I’ve also seen a few close calls from people driving too fast in tight areas. Training helps a ton, but so does just slowing down and keeping your head on a swivel. Daily checks and clear walkways make a big difference too.
