When Traveling with an Empty Forklift, What Position Should the Forks Be In?

Hey!

I’ve seen different operators handle this differently, so I wanted to clarify, when driving a forklift without a load, what’s the correct fork position for safety and stability? Should they be tilted, lowered, or kept at a specific height?

Would love to hear insights from experienced forklift operators or safety experts on the best practices for preventing accidents and ensuring proper handling!

Good question! The safest position is to keep the forks low to the ground, usually around 4-6 inches, and slightly tilted back to prevent them from catching on anything. Keeping them too high can be a tripping hazard or block visibility. Definitely a good habit to follow for safety!

Hey Rodney, great question!I agree with Marlouie, It’s a simple but important habit to ensure proper handling and avoid accidents.
