I’ve heard some people refer to forklifts as "jeeps," and I’m curious where that nickname comes from.

Is it a regional thing, or does it have some historical background? Would love to hear if anyone knows the origin of this term!

During World War II, the military used a small, versatile vehicle called the "Jeep" that could handle tough terrain, and forklifts, especially the smaller, more maneuverable ones, were sometimes called "jeeps" because they shared that same rugged, go-anywhere quality. It’s not really regional but more of a nod to the similarities in toughness and versatility.
