Why do forklifts use propane?

I’ve noticed that many forklifts use propane as their fuel source. Is it because of efficiency, cost, or safety benefits?

I've been using propane for my forklifts and it's really great because it runs clean enough during my indoor use. It's also refueling way faster than electric ones. Plus, it doesn't need as much maintenance as diesel.

Hey everyone! Propane forklifts also keep a consistent power level, unlike electric ones that lose power as the battery drains. Plus, they work indoors and outdoors, making them super versatile. Have you ever compared fuel costs over time between propane, electric, and diesel?

@Gerry, another big reason is that propane burns cleaner than diesel, which helps reduce emissions—especially important for indoor use. Plus, propane tanks are easy to swap out, so there’s almost no downtime compared to waiting for an electric battery to charge. Have you been looking into different fuel options for a specific application?

Good points! Another advantage is that propane forklifts perform well in colder temperatures, unlike electric ones that can struggle. Have you noticed any differences in performance depending on the work environment?

Yeah, propane forklifts are solid for all-weather performance and quick refueling. I’ve also noticed they don’t lose power over a shift like electric ones do. Definitely a good choice if you need consistent performance with minimal downtime!

Great points, @HughDexter98! I’ve always appreciated the quick refueling aspect too. It really helps keep things moving. @Gerry, if you're working in a high-demand environment, propane might save you a lot of time compared to electric forklifts, especially when you’re tight on time for breaks!

Just got my first propane forklift, and I’m already seeing the benefits! Quick refueling is a game changer and no more waiting for batteries to charge. Plus, it runs strong all day without losing power. Definitely happy with the switch so far!
